Happy Mother's Day to me

I get this question a lot nowadays, "How does it feel to be a mom?" Well its hard to imagine that this little person could cause me so much anxiety, great loss of sleep, I'd even had to skip makeup sometimes in order to dress her up (imagine that!).

The Stork Finally Arrived

Image
After weeks of impatience and a ton of pain, my little girl finally came out to brace the world. There wasn't a lot of emotion or tears on my part, because i already love her wholeheartedly for nine months, i'm just glad to be able to hold her in my arms instead of "smuggling a basketball" as some people puts it. Confinement - is the worst. My advice would be marry a non-(traditional) chinese, and marry as far as possible from your traditional chinese family. but that, would only relieve certain parts of the discomfort, as there are still plenty of issues to deal with. I had to put up with stomach cramps, heavy bleeding, painful urination, sore spot down there due to episiotomy, bleeding from breastfeeding, breast engorgement, backache etc. on top of that, everything i eat has to be cooked with ginger, wine and eaten hot, so after each meal i'm sweating like a tap. my hair stinks and i begged my mom everyday for a proper shower (with soap and shampoo!). Less than ...

Do Not Forget...

Sometimes its too easy to forget the pleasures we derive from simple things. Waking up next to you and being hugged like i'm the most the precious thing in the world, nothing gets better than that. I hope i won't ever take that for granted.

M for Maladies

We were just skimming on the topic of marriage during a phone conversation when my heart decided to intervene. I clutched my chest and managed to croak "Wait...my heart is beating like crazy!" After a few long seconds of palpitations usually reserved for accidental occasions where i OD-ed on caffeine, it finally returned to normalcy. "Phew...I'm okay now." "Was the attack triggered by that word?", bf asked innocently. "Uhm, of course not!" Whatever made him jumped to that sort of far-fetched assumption? * * * On a hindsight, i've only had my usual one cup of coffee today.

Lately he makes me weaker in the knees

I just might have to confess where I stand Coz lately you make me weaker in the knees And you race through my veins baby, every time you're close to me Take me away to places I ain't seen They say you got a hold on me, yeah, and I won't disagree -Kate Voegele "I Won't Disagree"- Oh yeah, lately i've been rendered into a pile of love sick mess.

Palate Palette...Pellet?

My sister has been nagging me forever to go to this chic restaurant that is a mouthful to pronounce. To celebrate our reunion with Min and Chris, I jumped at the chance to bring the gang there. Spotted on the wall, i'm in love with this place already...sigh... Don't ask me why is everyone in black. I'm beginning to think its our Friday night uniform. In true spirit of our girls-get-together, we spent almost an hour unabashedly camwhoring in the unisex washroom. Just realized that we took the pictures even before CNY. My blog is officially lagging by a month.

Cupcakes of Love

A little reminder from Charzy that i'm still loved. I don't know why it took some time to register that you were actually referring to me, but yes, we are definitely neighbours and best friends for life.

I'm on the other side and I can tell you it's no fun

That's it. I can't stand it anymore. I'll have to shoot the next (non-single) person who tells me that being a single girl about town is "so much fun". Who do you rely on to carry your heavy shopping? Who do you call when you are hopelessly lost on the road? Who do you "pretty please" when some menial task needs to be done? Who do you hug and never want to let go when everything goes wrong? I have not been completely open to a lot of people, primarily because the reasons behind the break-up is very personal to me. To explain them is akin to dissecting my heart, i.e extremely painful. When a colleague unknowingly brought up the topic during new year's eve, "How will you be celebrating with your bf?", from my devastated and awkward expression, he actually jumped to the conclusion that i was dumped. Which suits me great, because in this case people usually feel too sorry for you and will not further embarass you with more questions. So i sort ...

For one good day

what constitutes a "right" decision when it is not only causing yourself, but the person you loved so much pain? this is the thought that i've been struggling with for the past month, hell of a month. i felt it was truly unfair to him when he so wanted to marry me in the near future but i can't imagine spending the rest of our lives together. i don't trust myself because i know i will hurt him again, its just a matter of time. mostly, there is no when, or why, or how, but i realized that i fell out of love long time ago. the funny thing is, people can be so self-righteous. when you are the one doing the dirty deed, people will automatically take the opposite side, telling you what you ought to be doing, when really what you should be doing is to tell them to mind their own bloody business. i'm not exactly getting good deal here. he was my best friend and boyfriend for more than 6 years. it took a lot of strength to end this relationship because i know that we ...

Vanquishing Trojans for Dummies

my beloved sister brought home the old virus-infected PC and somehow took my shiny new laptop in exchange. that's what eldest sibling are for, putting up with sh*t. anyway, that old PC was especially dear because it kept me company throughout 4 years of university. so i decided to clean-up the viruses, and that decision alone caused me three days of pain. being such a good friend, i'm going to save you guys from plenty of anguish by compiling this guide. first, a quick scan of my PC shows 3 types of worms/trojans detected. what to do if the virus scan is not able to clean the infected files? go to the location and delete it yourself, of course. Unable to display hidden files virus-infected files tend to masquerade as system files, so they are usually hidden. but how am i suppose to set "Show hidden files and folders" when there is no Folder Option? which brings us to our next topic, edit registry to show folder options. Unable to run REGEDIT The easiest way to open re...

The frugal woman

sorry about the temporary lockdown, i was suppose to be working on a new layout in conjunction with the new URL, but as usual nothing ever gets done because the author is easily distracted. and boy, does she gets distracted by shopping lately. so i woke up the day after my birthday, realizing with a shock that my credit card payment is due tomorrow. wouldn't it be great if banks can provide gift vouchers for well-meaning friends who can't decide what to give as a birthday present, so that they could help pay their friend's bills? i definitely would not mind receiving those "gift vouchers" :D back to the story, it wasn't that much of a hassle to begin with, i would usually just go online and do an interbank money transfer. but that service would cost 2 bucks, i mean, 2 bloody bucks per month to the bank for doing practically nothing! since i didn't have plans this afternoon, i could easily save 2 bucks by driving to the bank and deposit the cash myself. and...

My BFF gave me a Screamin' Orgasm

so my trip had came to an end, but not before one final blast of a weekend. my new best buddy brought me to a comedy club, you know like the ones that we see on TV with the stand-up comedians making fun of the audience, which made me kinda worried that i might not be able to pick up the references in the joke, or worse, laugh at something at isn't meant to be funny. the club turned out to be a great experience, and i had my first taste of *ahem* as stated above *ahem* , how cool is that??? the guys were being unusually sweet to me that weekend, by offering to bring me wherever i desire. even my BFF whom i had a falling out with almost every week, made it impossible for me to bicker with him. and naturally, my very last wish before leaving the states would be to visit Cafe Lu again, where drop-dead gorgeous Vietnamese girls sashay around in lingerie (!!) while serving drinks. my favourite waitress is this angelic-looking girl, she is just perfection. and tasty coffee, of course, t...

Close call

Five months of stay in the states, cotton-brained me is still unable to get the time zone right. during a phone call with my mom, she was asking me for the hundredth time my arrival date in KL. me: i told you already, i'm arriving on merdeka day afternoon. mom: good, that's on friday. are you sure? remember to confirm with the airlines. me: don't worry, i'm very sure. mom: then when is your last day at work? don't forget to start packing soon. me: don't worry, everything is under control. i'm going to the airport on friday nite, cos my flight is around 1am. mom: what?! you fly on friday nite and reach on friday noon? isn't US already behind time? hmmm...is that...not possible? double-checked the ticket (actually i never did studied it closely), shi*t, i think i almost missed my wednesday flight.

Its Californication, Part I

Its amazing how time flies. Six months seems like a sentence at first. But another month to go and i will be back in good ol' Malaysia again. And the truth is, i am a little heavy hearted to leave this beautiful sunny state. they say pictures can tell a thousand words... My very first visit to Disneyland Disneyland - where dreams come true! Tinkerbell, i look like a humongous pumpkin in the picture, please make me thinner. This is Mickey's residence in Toon Town. It's A Small World - one of the oldest and most popular ride in Disneyland. When you get off the ride, the tune stays in your head going "Its a small world afterall, its a small world afterall..." over and over again. For me, the most impressive part of Disneyland experience is the fireworks at night. Tinkerbell (i knew she's real!) appeared magically in the sky and flew across the magnificent castle. With a flick of her wand, the spectacular fireworks began against the backdrop of the castle. My firs...

You be diggin' mah S-line

Pretty piggie tagged me eons ago, i hope its worth the wait for her. and i know i've been a lazy blogger, but the masterpiece is coming, i promise! for the meantime, as a token of apology, i present to you, mah booty! there were several attempts earlier to take picture of me in my jammies, but i almost couldn't figure out which way is up while flipping the photos. on the good side, at least i can be sure that this picture would not incite any provocative thoughts.

Home is where the heart belongs

usually when i had a crazy and long day at work, i would drag my tired self back home, sit at the dining table and unload my woes to my mom while she heats up my dinner. she would nod emphathetically each time, and assured me that i've handled the situation best that i could. as i eat the food that she prepared and thoughtfully saved for me, it occurs to me that my mom's work never stop. even after coming back from office, she still has to cook dinner for the family, and insists on heating up dinner for me whenever i came back late. my "long" day is totally insignicant compared to hers yet she never complained. by the time i finish eating, everything seems much more bearable once again. it has been a crazy, crazy week and i miss home.

alright alright...here are the pictures as promised. the place where i'm staying is an hour's drive away from LA. as you can see, i was sorely disappointed when we entered LA city for the first time. the buildings just seemed so aged and...err..on the low side? the famous Hollywood Boulevard where the walk of fame is located. there are lots of street performances as well as people in costumes parading along the street. Kodak Theater, Wax Museum and the Chinese Theater are all located here too. kind of disappointed again, not as Hollywood-ish as i expected it to be. by nightfall we decided to just cruise around town with the help of the map. we cruised down Santa Monica and Sunset Boulevard, all the way to Beverly Hills. and we stumbled into Rodeo Drive, right in the center of Beverly Hills. i have always wanted to go there after watching Pretty Woman! best thing is, it's every bit as Hollywood-ish as i imagined. coincidently, a private party is held at the House of Versace ...

The Land Of eBay, Yahoo! and Amazon

She said I think I'll go to Boston... I think I'll start a new life, I think I'll start it over, where no one knows my name, I'll get out of California, I'm tired of the weather, I think I'll get a lover and fly em out to Spain... I think I'll go to Boston, I think that I'm just tired I think I need a new town, to leave this all behind... I think I need a sunrise, I'm tired of the sunset, I hear it's nice in the Summer, some snow would be nice... Boston... where no one knows my name... Boston by Augustana although i have zero idea who's Augustana and where Boston is on the map, i'm totally in love with this song. everytime the lead singer croons " When flowers gaze at you... they're not the only ones who cry when they see you ", my heart just melts like hot marshmallow. the notion of leaving everything behind to embark on an adventure in a place far far away can be overwhelmingly appealing at times. but the heart misses, tho...
