Psycho Magnet

It's been a totally hectic month. but i still owe it to blogspot to post something up in order to justify my speck of space on this Wide Wobbly Web. lately i've been busy being a... Great Buddy met up with a lot of ex-school mates, ex-uni mates, ex-colleagues and so on. we had fun planning activities like bowling, BBQ, "lamsing" and even "yamsing" *wink wink* suddenly realized i can't remember the last time i went shopping, as in really hitting the shops. Starbucks Kaki there's something about the new Java Chip Frappucino that got me addicted. i have been having my weekly 1000-calory dosage of java chip frap for the past month. And i don't even like Starbucks in the first place. Lousy Girlfriend i'm totally infuriated and bewildered by this guy... let's call him D. as it happens D asked me out last week. since the last time we met up was more than half a year ago, i tot it would be a good idea to catch up over dinner. after that one bri...

Splurge splurge baby

my fren who works in Kenwood showed me the latest product catalogue last night. we are in the midst of brainstorming session to help him come up with a cool angle to present his stuff. so i pretend to layan him abit and nonchalantly flipped thru the catalogue. i mean, who cares about how many RRC and DIN does my cd player has? suddenly my heart skipped a beat. i've always wanted a CD/MP3/WMA player for my car. and this cool baby staring back at me from the glossy pages comes feature-packed as well. me: (jabbing excitedly at the picture) What's this what's this? ken: this one has USB interface, you cannot afford la. me: wahlau is this how you do business? can you please explain in layman terms? ken: the player comes with a USB cable for flash drives so lazy ppl like you don't even need to burn CDs. *omg is this the feeling of pure lust?* me: and what is the Bluetooth for? ken: it connects to your hp like a handsfree kit. there's an embedded microphone for you to spea...

The girl with a handicapped sense of direction

Last month about a month ago, i had to see a client whose office is located at AmBank tower. armed with an ugly hand drawn map courtesy of my boss, i agak-agak made my way to kl and found the tower. when i got to the lobby, i had to get my security pass at the reception. "I would like to go to 36th floor please." [ weird stare ] "Miss, there is no 36th floor in this building." "That's not possible! It's written on the name card. Here...!" [ glanced at the name card and rolled her eyes ] "This is Public Bank Tower, miss." Last week One morning, i was suppose to have a breakfast meeting at Putrajaya with some clients. according to my colleague's intruction, go down the highway beside Summit USJ, and turn left when i see "Putrajaya/Cyberjaya" sign. needless to say, i missed the junction (to my credit, i did not see any sign). it was a loooong way to shah alam before i can make a U-turn. since my colleague did not specify which ...

Karma's a bitch

remember the stupid traffic light near my workplace that i mentioned in passing? being such a good multi-tasker *ahem* while waiting for the first red interval, i would line my lips and apply lip gloss... second red interval, comb and tie my hair and so on. it would take about 3 intervals before i'm good to go (told you it's stupid). as it happens, this morning i was queuing at the traffic light junction, performing my usual morning routine. out of the corner of my eyes, i saw the black Waja in front me reversing (it's quite a hilly slope) towards me. i honked hard and tried to reverse at the same time but the car behind me was too close for comfort. and *thud!* it hit my poor baby *wails for a good 5 minutes as the author relives her tragic accident* i stormed out of the car, as did the idiotic driver who's probably still strung out from a weekend of weed party. weed addict (in cantonese): what happened? my car didn't even budged! [oh the nerve of him. my simmerin...

Vanity Fair

Image
out of sheer boredom, i did a bit of tinkering with Photoshop CS. hah! i've finally managed to unearth my hidden talent *insert self-congratulatory pat* the one above is actually done by my sister, so i thought i could do as well as, if not better, than her. right now i'm only experimenting with filtering and saturation. so take a step back and admire my handiwork ;) the original photos are all posted in my previously-mentioned Multiply website.

Men from Mars

men! *to be said vehemently* i just don't understand them. i have a feeling someday i'm gonna end up being a lonely, cellulite-thighed, virginal spinster with 10 cats *eeeek!* remember the guy who left a note on my windshield? what i did not mention is another guy left a cute note on my car too (guys, this pick-up trick is getting abit old). However, curiosity got better of me this time and somehow we got to know each other. everytime i went out with this guy, he chains smoke like he's trying to break some Guinness record. it's disturbing to see ppl smoking like that okay. but he was kinda shocked when i asked how many packets he consumes per day. according to him, he usually smokes 2 sticks a day, unless when he's extremely nervous i.e talking to moi . i think i'm as intimidating as a rabbit lor, but on the safe side, i should probably stop going out with him before he kills himself with lung cancer. another guy i seriously don't get is my colleague. he he...

And then he was gone

i just got back from the funeral of a fellow colleague. he succumbed to cancer shortly after an operation yesterday, at age 30. it took a while for the news of his death to sink in, because brain tumour only happens to people in TV, not real life, and especially not someone who is young and healthy (gawd, i sound so self-absorbed). when you are gone, what is the legacy you want to leave behind? an utterly unremarkable being that people struggle to describe in your eulogy? or someone who will be so sorely missed, that no amount of words can do justice, because he or she has touched so many lives? i strive to be the latter.

Is love compromising?

try as i might, all i want to do is to wave the white flag. it took me five years to realize that i can't change a man. now i'm stuck in a place where i can't move on, unless i choose to give up or just suck it up. if love is about compromise, then mine is not love.

Summary of thoughts

Last few weeks was a killer. let's see, i work around the clock to make sure that i get my things done by 6.30, then i dash off to Microsoft class for 3 hours, then back to office again to continue any unfinished business *wails* this is totally inhumane wei... to reward my diligence, i bought a ton of makeup again! me, mei zhi and lu signed up for Stila workshop coupla weeks ago hoping to learn some "tricks of the trade" (partly also to get the free lip glaze :p). and we ended up buying an obscene amount of Stila makeups *gulps* after the workshop and a fattening lunch (at Delicious Cafe of coz, my current favourite indulgence), me and mei zhi did a bit more shopping on the way back to the carpark even though we kept promising ourselves no more "detours". when we finally got to the carpark, horrors of horrors, we are so broke to the extent that we couldn't afford to pay our parking fees. after we pooled every single cent, its still not enough to cover the p...

Adventures of Patchy The Dog

Image
This dog here gave me the workout of my life. what a bitch! (pun intended hee!) if you want cheap cardio and toning exercise, i suggest you get yourself a dog... a big one. as it happens i was reversing my car from the porch, kinda in a hurry to get to Bangsar. usually patchy would have a quick jog around our street, and run back into the house again when i called for her. however this time, she ran all the way to the next street without a warning. eeek!! immediately i locked my car and chased after her, in 2-inch heels and everything. the more i called out to her, the further she ran away. she thinks its a game or something because i swear there's a smirk on her furry face. finally at 3 blocks from home, i grabbed her and attempted to carry her home. all i can say is patchy's no chihuahua. i mean after all the bacon and cheese sticks that i fed her, my arms were shaking when we made it past 2 blocks of houses. so i put her down for a second to give my arms a break, and off she...

A dose of spontaneity goes a long way

[update: my credit card problem is finally settled. phew! but my mom is still hounding me bout the alleged "smoke" in my room.] sometimes when i feel like i'm living in a cookie-cutter life, i yearn to do something crazy, like skinny-dipping, or jumping off the plane, or hunt for bigfoot, just to keep my sanity intact. but of course, those are just extreme examples. the best memory i had of being spontaneous was when a friend convinced me to skip work for a day and visit the KL zoo. the weather was wonderful, the animals serene, and we had the entire zoo to ourselves (as it happened to be a weekday). we walked hand-in-hand, making stupid animal jokes, and i wished back then the day would never end. my point is, everyone should break out of the ordinary once in a while before all the responsibilities and stress consume you. i want to know what it's like to kiss another girl.

The world's local bank

i need a man who can take care of all my bills. oh don't get me wrong, it's not about the money. i'm just incredibly ill-lucked when it comes to monthly bills. first it was Maxis who wrongly-charged me all sort of crap for 3 months in a row until they finally got it right. then my car loan bank charged me interest because my account is apparently "in arrears". heck, i don't even know what that means. here comes the mother of all fuckups. i paid 800 bucks (the full amount) for my previous month's credit card bill through a cash deposit machine. when i received my latest credit card statement, the bank only deducted 200 bucks from the total amount plus interest for accumulated unpaid sum. ohkaay, so they've got it wrong and i have the receipts to prove it. (yeah i did something totally out of character and kept the receipts! can u believe it??) fyi, i paid the bills in two turns, rm200 and rm600, because apparently 16 notes is too much for the stupid mac...

The forbidden apple

My work is mounting, annual appraisal is next week and my stress level is at a record-breaking high. on top of it, my company signed me up for Microsoft.net training which commences from 6.30 to 9.30 every weekday nite, for 2-3 months i think. a colleague caught me in a state of agitation and commented, "you looked like you need a ciggie." damn right i do. i would be lying if i said i'm not the slightest tempted. the weirdest thing is, my mom seems to have ESP when it comes to my innermost thoughts. just a coupla days ago, she grilled me on the supposed ciggarette smells in my room. i say "supposed" because i have never taken a single puff in my entire 22 years-young life. "Oh c'mon.. i just came back from Bangsar, obviously i would stink of cigarette." i said. "No, i smelled it in your room even before you came home." "Then you should ask pei pei instead. maybe she's the one who smoked."

Today is THE DAY!

it totally escaped my mind today is March 8th. The Day of the Project Runway II Finale. The Day they crown Daniel V as the winner (well, i'm fervently hoping) ooh...i can't wait i can't wait... p/s: its on days like this i wish i'm living in the US of A.

I want to climb the mountain, but...

Saw something that made me paused and reflect on myself, my direction and my life basically. Climb the mountain I tried to climb the mountain today. As I reached my way up the path, I felt overwhelmed, so I had to turn back. I tried to climb the mountain today. On my journey, darkness started to fall and I was full of fear, so I had to turn to a safe place. I was ready to climb the mountain today. But it was so hot outside, I thought I better stay in my nice air-conditioned house and rest up for tomorrow's attempt. I was about to climb the mountain today. But I had so many things to do, so instead of climbing the mountain I took care of much more important tasks. I washed my car, mowed the grass and watched a big game. Today, the mountain will just have to wait. I was going to climb the mountain today. But as I stared at the mountain in its majestic beauty, I knew I stood no chance of making it to the top, so I figured why even bother trying. I have forgotten about climbing the mou...

Lazy...

sorry guys...i've been a lazy fart. i promise i'll update before going to Sudan next week.

Guess where i found my MP3 player?

Image
some random photos... all taken using my handphone! (one MP only la.... please don't have unrealistic expectations.) Al-manama mosque... the sky in Bahrain is incredibly blue and cloudless. even though the shopping mall is nice and classy, i've checked out every single shop in the vicinity within the span of 10 minutes. no wonder they love shopping in M'sia so much... me enjoying Lebanese food (some farafil thingy with goat's milk sauce) at my grandpa's house for the lion dance ceremony SMILE! me and my sis working the cam at Thai Express love this gal so much! it's great to have Min n Mz back again. background is the superb "mirror room" at Star Hill Gallery.

Hide and seek

after a nice loooooong and relaxing CNY break, i'm suddenly in the mood to blog and upload pics taken during the Bahrain trip. *record skipping* wait a minute... where the heck is my MP3 player? gawwwd...all the pics are in it. today marks the 2nd day of my futile search, apparently my MP3 player decided to pull a Mondo Magic and vanished, because i'm 100% sure i've left it on the computer table. as i was frantically digging thru drawers by drawers, i found something resembling a little red book. oh wow, whose passport could it be? okay, perhaps a more appropriate question would be, what in the world is my passport doing in the underwear drawer??? i need to get my head examine, because i can remember the prices for each of my shoes (and where i bought them) yet i can't recall where i bloody put a passport! few minutes later, i found a wad of US dollars in one of my shopping bags. ok this is kinda freaking me out. seems like i tend to choose weird hiding spots at the s...

Let Me Go Home

last night i went berserk and bought 2 bottles of Evian that set me back about 2.4 dinars. the high sodium content in locally bottled water is killing me! imagine a sodium content of 49.5 mg/L versus Evian's 11 mg/L... no wonder i'm suffering from symptoms of hypertension. water aside, i'm loving the weather in Bahrain. cold enough to parade my new jackets hehe, but not to the extent of causing frostbites. it's a wee bit dusty though, my black suede boots are turning into tan color, gawd, just like everything else here. i still don't have time to browse the Souk (something like Arabian bazaar), make a short trip to Arab Saudi (which is only 20km away) and go window shopping at the exclusive Seef District. i heard that the cheapest item at Seef is a 50 dinar pair of shorts. i guess the rich Arabs probably buy a dozen at one go out of shamefulness. my boss actually consoled me by saying that we'll return to Bahrain again at least once or twice more -_-''...

1001 Arabian Nights

it's now 5.30am Bahrain time and i can't make myself sleep. my body clock has gone haywire, probably tuning to Timbuktu's timezone because i can only sleep for 4-5 hours and eat 2 meals a day at really odd hours. i should probably start from the beginning. after the flight with Qatar Airways that took forever, me and my boss finally reached Doha (Qatar's city) to catch our transit flight. Doha Airport is small but modern, they sell lots of duty-free electronic goods, an iPod nano for example only cost bout RM800. i would have given in to temptation, if the plane to Al-Manama is not about to take off in 5 minutes time. it all boils down to the stupid delay back at KLIA, where the Arabs tried to check-in 60kg luggages (trust me its gigantic) and refused to pay the excess baggage fine. my Bahrainian customer told me that the Arabs like to buy goods in bulk, because they feel ashamed if they only bought one. well, that explains why i saw an Arab woman who opened her huge LV...
