Its Californication, Part I

Its amazing how time flies. Six months seems like a sentence at first. But another month to go and i will be back in good ol' Malaysia again. And the truth is, i am a little heavy hearted to leave this beautiful sunny state. they say pictures can tell a thousand words...

My very first visit to Disneyland

Disneyland - where dreams come true! Tinkerbell, i look like a humongous pumpkin in the picture, please make me thinner.

This is Mickey's residence in Toon Town.

It's A Small World - one of the oldest and most popular ride in Disneyland. When you get off the ride, the tune stays in your head going "Its a small world afterall, its a small world afterall..." over and over again.

For me, the most impressive part of Disneyland experience is the fireworks at night. Tinkerbell (i knew she's real!) appeared magically in the sky and flew across the magnificent castle. With a flick of her wand, the spectacular fireworks began against the backdrop of the castle.

My first taste of Pacific Ocean

Californians are so lucky, they are surrounded by beautiful, clean beaches which faces the clean Pacific Ocean. This was taken at Newport Beach around late spring, the water is still somewhat chilly, but there are already throngs of impatient beach-goers.

Different beach has different flavors. In the case of Venice Beach, it has more erm...colorful characters. There were hippies, tattoo worshippers, graffiti artists etc.

My kinda flavor, lots of tanned and muscular guys playing beach volley. That's Huntington Beach by the way.

My first US interstate road trip

Eight hours of interstate driving in the dead of the night just to reach Grand Canyons before sunrise. as the weather in California is turning warmer, i was totally unprepared for the extreme weather up in the canyons. it was a freezing 3-5 degrees at the canyons, when we drove down the mountains toward Nevada it was a smokin' 40 degrees.

The famous Hoover Dam, right at the interstate crossing between Arizona and Nevada. We were of course, on our way to Las Vegas baby!

the lights and sights in LV are truly spectacular. and unsurprisingly, the sins are aplenty. one of the saying that goes around in the Sin City is, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas." muahaha...and i shall do that.

we were stopped by the dazzling aquamarine Cachuma Lake on the way to Solvang, a small Dannish village in the wine valley. the thing about California is, the scenery may be totally diversified due to different climates, but it's always breathtakingly beautiful.

next up, San Francisco and LA downtown.
